Now in its 12th year, the Florida Keys Heroes Tribute Weekend is our way of saying thank you to the men and women who serve our Nation. Join us this year for a family-friendly weekend full of events and activities celebrating their service.

Get the family and friends together for a one-of-a-kind weekend in Marathon - the boating, fishing and family fun capital of the Florida Keys. From Friday, Sept 4th - Sunday, Sept 6th, Hawks Cay Resort is hosting their annual Heroes Salute Weekend, three full days of patriotic fun, moving tributes, All-American fireworks, and the chance to show your appreciation to our brave men and women of service.

Event itinerary

Virtual 5k – Any time during Heroes Weekend

Wear your patriotic best, or represent your department during this heroic virutal 5k run/walk through the islands of Duck Key. Your donation for the 5k will include a race medal!

Portion of the proceeds goes to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The virtual race opportunity allows runners to participate in the event at any time while on vacation during our Heroes Weekend, September 4th - 7th. Runners track their own times and completion is based on the honor system. The Heroes 5K Run Walk is open to Hawks Cay Guests, local residents or any other visiting guests of the beautiful Florida Keys.

Friday, Sept 4th

7:00 - 10:00 PM • Family Fun Night at Coral Cay Club

Outdoor movie projector with free popcorn, face painting, games, and activities.

Saturday, Sept 5th

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM • Touch A Truck

Local heroes (Coast Guard, Fire Dept, Sherriff, Secret Service, Boarder Patrol, and others) bring their vehicles, equipment and educational materials for the kids and families to explore. Touch A Truck will be held at Hawks Cay Marina.

5:00 - 10:00 PM • Live entertainment by local entertainers.

7:30 PM • Heroes Tribute

Special presenting guests from Coast Guard Honor Guard, Wounded Warrior organizations, regional and service dignitaries and representatives from Firehouse Subs. Past Heroes Salute special guests have included a NASA astronaut, US Congressmen and several wounded warriors.

10:00 PM • Fireworks Show on the Atlantic Ocean

Fireworks Extravaganza! What better way to end a fantastic Heroes Salute Tribute Weekend than watching a patriotic fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean with the family. Hint - Great viewing areas can be found near the lagoon!

Sunday, Sept 6th

6:30 - 9:30 PM • Live Concert

Entertainment at Hawks Cay Resort by Patrick & The Swayzees, Key West Rock n Roll, Soul and Motown.

5:00 - 9:00 PM • All American BBQ + Live Entertainment

Enjoy a full BBQ dockside at Hawks Cay Marketplace with live music, games and contests, and all your BBQ favorites.
